Description: Shipping | POLICIES AND INFORMATION 1920s HIPPODROME THEATRE African American BARBER SHOP Photo / DANVILLE VIRGINIA The "ebayPRYANKEE" watermark shown across the image is NOT on the actual photo. This was simply added to the ebay image to keep others from copying without permission. ************************************* An original photo taken in the 1920's. As best I can tell, this is a very rare image of North Union Street in Danville, Virginia. In the center of the photo, with the aid of a magnifying glass, I can make out an elderly black man sitting in a chair in front of a window with a sign that reads: HIPPODROME BARBER SHOP. The barber shop shares the building with a theatre, with a large advertising poster displayed out front. Between the two businesses, is a large sign that reads "HIPPODROME." To the left of the theatre is another business, with a sign in the window that reads: "RIGHT AWAY ??? OFFICE." There is another black gentleman sitting in a chair in front of the "Right Away" sign. A large hotel is to the far right. This is not a later copy or reprint, this is an ORIGINAL VINTAGE TYPE-1 PHOTO printed in the 1920's. Type 1 Photo: A 1st generation photograph, developed from the original negative, during the period. Measures 4 1/2" x 2 7/8" and displays beautifully. Because of the excellent focus and contrast, I believe the image could be substantially enlarged, if desired. No rips, tears, folds, creases, or repairs. Guaranteed to be vintage circa-1920's, and not a later copy or reproduction.
