From a Smoke-free and Pet-free Environment. The U.S. Postal Service issued these gummed Lunar New Year stamps on January 5, 1999 in Los Angeles, CA in celebration of the Year of the Rabbit. Calligrapher Lau Bun, also of Honolulu, drew the Kanji characters on the side of the souvenir sheet, which may be translated as "Happy New Year!" The Lunar New Year, the most important holiday of the year for many Asian communities around the world, is celebrated primarily by people of Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Tibetan, and Mongolian heritage. 7th in the U.S. Lunar New Year stamp series. Years of the Rabbit include: 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, and 2023. People born in the Year of the Rabbit are said to be kind, sweet, calm, compassionate, popular people, who are never ignored and provide good company. They have a keen sense of good taste and artistic appreciation, so their homes are always beautiful ones; and they are often tasteful dressers as well. They don't like to argue and choose, instead, to live quiet, peaceful lives.Gummed collectible stamps; great as gifts for people born in the Year of the Rabbit; or use for postage.
