Description: Do you remember this attraction at Disneyland? America Sings opened at Disneyland on June 29, 1974 in the Carousel Theater, the former home of the Carousel of Progress attraction in Tomorrowland (which is odd). Celebrating America's Bicentennial, the show was hosted by Sam The Eagle (voiced by Burl Ives) and featured many other colorful animatronic characters singing well known American favorite songs. The 'carousel" rotated to 4 different stages, each with a different period of American musical history. America Sings celebrated the United States Bicentennial until it closed on April 10, 1988. Many of the animal animatronics were used in Splash Mountain, which opened in 1989. An interesting note about this attraction is that a death occurred on July 8, 1974. A new employee, Deborah Gail Stone, age 18, died after being crushed between a revolving wall and a stationary platform in the attraction. America Sings was closed for 2 days while crews installed new carpeting, breakaway walls and warning lights to prevent any similar incidents. This vinyl LP is in Very Good + condition. The outer covers are in good condition with minor wear and slight bending at the corners. NOTE: The 11- page story book inside the cover is complete and in good condition, but inner pages 3-10 have separated from stapled binding. Sold as is, see photos. Feel free to contact me with any questions prior to purchase. The Carousel Theater housed EPCOT inspired Innoventions and is now Star Wars Launch Bay. 10242024recordbox6
