Antique New Haven Clock Co “Welton” Banjo Clock in Working Order

Description: This "Welton" model banjo clock by New Haven Clock Company still has its original tag showing it was first purchased in February 1928, likely placing its manufacture in 1926-27. The case is in good condition with a rich patina which we have made shine with a judicious application of the best hard wax. The clock is in working condition and is an 8-day clock. This mid-size banjo clock measures about 25 inches from bottom to top of the eagle and the wonderful ship graphic on glass is in very good condition. It is approximately 5 lbs in weight prior to packing. The New Haven Clock Company produced clocks from approximately 1856 until it closed in 1956. During WWII it produced timing fuses and mine relays. This is a “timepiece” which tells you the time but does not have a chime mechanism. Condition: the clock is in working order and we have made minor adjustments to the movement and done some lubrication. The case is in very good condition with some minor dents near the bezel which can be seen in images. All glass intact with no cracks or scratches observed. The original clasp to the lower door is not present. Original pendulum and key are included along with the original tag as shown in images. Original label on the back. This clock has not been "restored" nor have we attempted to clean the metal clock face which shows some darkening. The eagle finial has some finish wear and the hole into which it screws is stripped (this could be repaired with a small dowel, the finial will stay in place as is when hung).
