Description: Postally-used First Day Cover for UO80, the initial version of the 65c Official Mail Passport Envelope. This one was issued with a gummed flap. The envelope is cancelled on its First Day of Issue, March 17, 1990, with a pictorial machine postmark from Washington DC("Begin an Adventure of Giant Proportions - Collect Stamps" with an outline of a brontosaurus-looking dinosaur). It was sent to an individual at a Poste Restante (General Delivery) address in Tokyo, Japan. When the envelope was not picked up, it was returned to the sender in the States. The cover shows some effects of having passed several thousand miles through postal systems. The "Department of State" corner text was covered by a peelable label, resulting in some discoloring of the envelope paper and/or minor adhesive remnants where the label had been. The name of the addressee and the name and address of the sender are smudged in the scan, but are present on the actual envelope. The cover bears postal markings from Panama, including "Retour / Non-Reclame" in a box to the left of the address, and a distinct "Tokyo / Japan" datestamp of 22.III.90 on the front, as well as various two-character alphanumeric codes from the United States on the back. In general, the envelope is in good condition. Shipping includes USPS Tracking. Terms: Satisfaction guaranteed. Discount on shipping for multiple purchases.
