Description: Vintage 50s Matisse Renoir copper clip on earrings with cabochon, opaque enameled stones that is a book piece and was called Scarab. This design was called "SCARAB" and was inspired by the popular beetles of Egypt, and the cabochons "beetles" were made to resembled stones and are enameled opaque pieces of glass. Each of the stones are prong set into the copper with almost dog teeth style settings. The Renoir name appears on the back side of the clip on earrings. The earrings are 1.25 inches and are a triangle shape with three colors of the "beetle" stones repeated in the earring - the pink, green and teal turquoise stone. These are clip backs and they are in perfect working condition. CONDITION: If these were worn, they were worn rarely. Earring backs are clean and I do not see any sign of wear or use on these. These are in excellent vintage condition. I love Renoir and Matisse Renoir copper jewelry and think this modern Scarab "beetle" design is very captivating. I have only seen one of these in my 40 years of collecting. You certainly won't have another person wearing the same thing!
