Description: Very handsome copy of Winthrop Sargent's classic text on Major John Andre. Published in New York by William Abbatt in 1902. This one of just 75 copies on large paper out of an entire print run of 500. Scarce, desirable book, one of the better books on Andre out there, and highly collectable as a result. Fold out map at rear. Beautiful three-quarters morocco leather fine binding by Jas. MacDonald & Co. - the decorative work on the spine is especially gorgeous, and remains bright, fresh, and clear, with only slight scuffs. Gilt to top edge. Very good condition, with slight rubbing to hinges (binding still solidly intact and secure, however), slight wear to corners, and one area on front cover where a bit of the paper is missing (see photos). Pages within bright and clear, without foxing. Ex-libris plate of Robert Wetherill, Jr. This is a large, heavy book, so postage is a bit more than usual. Great, very collectable find.
