Description: VINTAGE COLONIAL KNIFE CO. FOUNDED 1926 BY FREDERICK PAOLANTONIO, WHO TRAINED IN THE ART OF CUTLERY IN HIS HOME TOWN OF FROSOLONE ITALY, BEFORE COMING TO AMERICA IN 1903. HE WORKED BRIEFLY AT A CUTLERY SHOP IN RHODE ISLAND. THEN HE WENT TO WORK FOR EMPIRE KNIFE FOR 5 YEARS AFTER WHICH PAOLANTONIO WENT TO WORK FOR THE MILLER BROS. THEN IN 1914 FREDERICK AND EDWARD OEFINGER FOUNDED MERIDEN KNIFE WHO LANDED A CONTRACT WITH MILLER BROS. TO MAKE SKELETON KEY BLANK KNIVES. THEN FINALLY IN 1926 THE BROS CAME TOGETHER TO FORM COLONIAL KNIFE. I RATE THIS MELLON KNIFE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION CONSISTENT WITH AGE, USE AND PATINA, NO CRACKS OR CHIPS. THE BLADE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, NO PATINA OR SCRATCHES. BLADE IS FULL STOP WITH SNAP WITH A SINGLE BACK SPRING.
